2 seperate folders for music

Hi
Ive got 1 folder on a server with my uncompressed audio files, ive also a second folder with mp3's in - now in winamp if i add both folders everything is mixed up.

Is it possible somehow to have 2 seperate folders in the media library sidebar for these 2 server folders? and if so could someone walk me through how to get it working?

thank you

You can create additional Local Media views based on file paths...

1. in the ML right click on Local Media > select 'Add Smart View...'
2. from the 'Choose a Preset:' drop-down box select 'Audio'
3. click the plus button underneath the first "formula" boxes, that will bring up a 2nd row of "formula" boxes
4. make sure and is selected between the two rows of "formula" boxes
5. in the 2nd row, first column select 'Filename' > 2nd column select 'Contains' > third column add the path for the folder you want create a view for. Example...
F:\audio\uncompressed
4. At the bottom of the 'New Smart View' box, give it a new name of your choice (example Network Uncompressed) > Press the OK button

Do the same steps for the other folder(s) you would like to add

What I do....

I work with just the Media Library, but make heavy use of the search filter.

First - I add an extra column to the standard Media Library view. Right Click the column headers and select "Customise Columns...". Now look on the left and find "File Path" and add that across to the right hand side.

Now you will find on your Media Library you will have a new column showing where your files are stored on the computer. This is a searchable field.

So... if I want to find any tunes in my E:\Music\FLAC\ folders I just add \FLAC\ to my search filter.

That is the beauty of Winamp - it is so flexible.

Filtering with the "File Path" in view gives various options to play with. I have a lot of my music in "collections" named by folders. And this acts as a quick filter for when I am trying to track down a specific version of an album. I use the "multi-word" ability of the search

I find it also helps when sorting albums in order as with careful file and folder name choices it will put a whole collection into chronological order by artist. \collection\artist\[year] album\## - track.flac

On my main music machine I use a few Smart Views to do exactly as you describe to pick out my FLAC'd CD collection with less typing.
