Unreleased, unfinished, unloved....

Don't panic, not another skin from me......

I got to thinking recently about all the skins I've made over the years and released on winamp.com and all the ones I haven't, started to wonder if anyone else was the same?

I consider winamp.com as my only 'official' place to release skins, although I have a few personal sites that have stuff on them that's not available here, but no one ever visits those lol

What have you made over the years that either never got released when finished or sits partially done on a hard drive somewhere?

Looking back in my own vaults I find ...............

Classic skins....
Hooplife Cappy edition, two copies of this only I think.. (finished)
Watchmen Classic Movie edition (half baked)
Untitled Jeri Ryan skin (practically raw)
Hooplife Colour (untitled Halo Jones skin in colour, could never get it to work, very little colour Halo images around.)
Doctor Who classic 11th Doctor (completed unreleased.)


Modern skins....
Doctor Who 11 Doctors 2009 edition (completed unreleased)
Doctor Who Monochrome (completed unreleased)
Hooplife 'K (revese worked edition of Hooplife Modern - Completed but too similar to the original to bother releasing)
Pyramid Blaster! (very shonky modern skin done as a test to try out vis animations- Completed although no longer working)
Original version of LFB - Devil inside modern skin, completed, dumped and started from scratch
WA 1.0 emulated skin that I was asked to build as part of some winamp aniversary celebration , they never paid up so it never got completed, about 90% done.


Mini Modern...
Doctor who Lite 10 / 11 editions (completed unreleased)
Watchment Lite movie / comic book editions (completed unreleased)
Hooplife Lite (completed unreleased)


I also found some wierd modern experiments, 'round blobby thing' A wierd skin that was going to feature inbuilt avs and all kinds of odd stuff, could never get it working, dumped!

Snowlake Demo!, another inbuilt AVS skin, Simon Snowflake must have asked me about this as it's got 'Done for Simon' written on it and a snowflake shaped avs window, works, but very basic!

And Luigi!, remember when we made those mini modern skin versions of a couple of your classics?, think I started a Samurai Champloo one off my own back made out of bits of the Modern skin version I had left over, never got beyond making the 3 main windows on that one...

Anyone else got anything to add?

My msn skin is one that comes to mind, I sure if I went through the archives I'd find a lot of un-finished skins of mine.

EDIT/ Just looked through my "skins" I dared not to look any further.

Well, first there are the unfinished classic skins I put images of on my website:

• Winamp Island, a treasure map-based skin
• A skin based on the art of Gwen Frostic
• "GreenSoft" - a turquoise and purple skin with very elementary "3D" effects
• A Magic: The Gathering skin (very bevelly)
• A skin based on a jigsaw puzzle
• Three different attempts at a skin based on photos in a grid pattern
• And the self-aggrandizing "flatmatt Anthology"

Then in my dead projects folder I have these:

• The old breast cancer awareness collaboration skin attempt
• A very, very early start on what was supposed to be a jigsaw puzzle modern skin
• Another version of the grid-with-photos classic skin using public domain NASA images

And finally, these never got moved to dead projects and still sit in the Skins folder:

• A classic version of a Danielle Fishel skin that eventually turned into a mostly finished skin featuring a different "actress" who shall remain nameless to avoid embarassment
• A Whose Line Is It Anyway? skin that only exists as a concept and some source photos

And before you draw any further conclusions, "actress" is not in quotes for the obvious reason.

I figured FM would be along sooner or later, it was your 'unfinished' skin page that got me thinking

I still think there is some mileage in the treasure island skin, maybe as a semi modern skin, but keeping an almost classic size / shape to it?

I'm very curious to know who the 'actress' is that ended up on the DF / Classic skin.......

Ahhhh, collaboration skins, we have not done one of those in a long time, who can forget the previous masterwork :-D, still have a copy in a gmail folder somewhere that someone sent me of the 'final' work of art....

Actually, the one skin I forgot to mention from the "dead projects" directory was a modern version of Winamp Island. Didn't make it all that far on that one either. Had a main window design with the island, a volume bar, and a thinger. Also some sea llamas.

I found some of your old skin ideas on a similar thread to this one, but it wasn't on there.

/never mind, found it now!

I was also looking at your Day of the tentacle modern skin the other day that no one picked up on, did have a second mind to see if I could do anything with it for you, but couldn't get one of the files to open.

So, here's a thing, the above sample shot, was another in the pile of 'lost files' caused by my hard drive / USB /Bad luck mojo from last years....

However, in a remarkable stroke of luck, clearing out files on my desktop machine at work today I found a random psp file among a load of work related photos and.... tada!, it was this!.

No idea why I renamed the file or why I saved it where I saved it, but it's the full layer file , well up to the point where I snapped the above photo....

Now, pick this one up again I wonder?, would be a shame to leave it unfinished......ponder ponder...

Dont' worry, the other is still top of the list, it's so far along now it shouldn't take long to finish it off.....given it's only taken the best part of 8 years so far

Nah, I was just pleased to find this layer file having thought it had vanished along with the other bits and bobs last year, like I say, lord know why it was saved with a different file name and saved where it was among non skin related jpg files etc.

This thing is so far away from even being started I wouldn't even think about it now, but non the less, there is something there to work with, so........................................
