Winamp 5.623 won't accept HTTP links

I used to be able to drag and drop links to media onto the play list. v5.623 shows the crossed circle when I try to drop a link on it.

Here's a web site ... http://letmelikeit.blogspot.com/ (lots of mp3 links there).

Now I have to copy the link and paste it into the "open URL" dialog.

This happens with Firefox 10.2.
With IE 8.0 the dragged icon looks OK (has the '+') over the playlist but it won't actually work. The link doesn't get added to the playlist.

This all used to work peachy keen. But since updating to 5.623, I can't even go back to an older version (5.56) to make it work. It's like some registry setting has changed.
