North Korea quits nuclear program.
The state department says:
“The DPRK has agreed to implement a moratorium on long-range missile launches, nuclear tests and nuclear activities at Yongbyon, including uranium enrichment activities. The DPRK has also agreed to the return of IAEA inspectors to verify and monitor the moratorium on uranium enrichment activities at Yongbyon and confirm the disablement of the 5-MW reactor and associated facilities.” In return we're gonna give them about a quarter million metric tons of food aid. Global Movies and TV God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to hide the bodies of people who pissed me off. |

This has trouble written all over it.
Reminds me of the UN Oil-for-Food scandal although this time I think we'll know it as the No-Nukes-for-Food scandal in about 7 years. |

We will be sending them food, not giving them an allowance to buy food like Oil for food. It's gonna be one of those relief things with a whole bunch of cargo ships and a dog and pony show.
If it is like a normal one of these we've done before, the cargo will be largely wheat, sugar and canned milk. North Koreans shouldn't be able to get into too much trouble with that.
