Utilise "Album Artist"!
In the "Artist" listing on the front page, songs should be listed according to the Album Artist (if their tag has one). If there is no Album Artist listing, then they can be sorted by the Artist field.
I hate seeing "XXX feat YYY" in my list of Artists!! Thx

Also, in the "Albums" listing, compilation CD's will be listed with the correct Album Artist, rather than the Artist of the first song on the CD.
Album Artist ftw.

I'm not too sure any of those address my issue (my Album listing is perfectly fine, it just has a minor labeling issue in terms of the Artist (should be using AA, not the Artist of the first song on the CD)). All those threads were indicating that the Album listing was faulty (multiples Albums of the same name, with different artists), that's not the case for me.
It's the Artist listing that I'm having issues with, which is actually working correctly (it's sorting all my songs by Artist) - I'm simply suggesting it should NOT sort by Artist, but should be by AA. My thread is a suggestion thread to utilise the Album Artist tag more than is currently happening - not a bug or error thread. |

so in the droid app, when you go into "artists" you want to be able to switch on the fly between "artists" (for mp3 aka TPE1) and "albumartists" (TPE2), is that correct?
i certainly would like that as well. under "albums" i think all albums should be listed "by" their TPE2 value. (i bet they are thinking "artists/tpe1 for artists" and "albumartists/tpe2 for albums" and not going much beyond that at this point). Yer i think that's right (i'm not 100% up with what tpe1/2 is exactly).
All I'm saying is, in the App, on the front screen, when I go to 'Artist', it should actually be 'Album Artist'. And in the Album listings, every Album has a subtitle of the 'Artist'. This subtitle should be based off the 'Album Artist' too, because compilation Albums incorrectly label the artist in these cases. |

I have the same concern as "krucifix" (see post #6). On my Samsung Galaxy SII X, in the Albums view, the Album is correctly listed alphabetically in larger font, but below the subtitled artist is not the tagged Album Artist. It is using the tagged Artist field, showing up as the last alphabetically artist within that particular album. The actual tagged Album Artist is being ignored.
I have looked through - http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=331309, but hove not been able to solve my concern. Is there a format in the preferences naming that addresses this issue? |
