WinAmp as Default Player with Bluetooth Controls

I first posted about this back in December with the release of v1.2.x but I've not seen an update since.

I don't seem to be able to get any version of v1.2.x to respond to bluetooth controls as the default player for my DROID 2. Reverting to v1.1.1 restores WinAmp as the default player.

I've tried all the suggested tips but only if I start WinAmp from a shortcut does it work and then only if has not be paused for a few minutes in which case the default music player starts responding. I see the same behavior with my Sony BT-2500 car stereo and my Motorola head phones.

Is this recognized by the WinAmp developers as a problem and is there any hope this might yet be resolved.

Thanks!

v1.2.10 update

Winamp is still not the default player. Again, it worked on v1.1.x and still does when I revert to this version so why not with v1.2.10? I'm have a Droid 2 so I'm wondering if it is somehow related to this. Would anyone mind sharing if it works for them and if so what device do you have?

Thanks!

Confirm on v1.2.12

I can confirm this is an issue in Winamp for Android v1.2.12.

I have an ASUS Transformer which, until yesterday, was running Android 3.2.1 (build: HTK75.WW_epad-8.6.5.21-20011216). I'm privileged enough that I can listen to music using Bluetooth headphones all day whilst doing my work. If I need to talk to someone I'll press Play/Pause on the headphones and drop them down around my neck. Sometimes, but not always, when I put the headphones back on there's music playing - Winamp has paused but (Google) Music has started up and is playing some other random music.

I upgraded my Transformer to Ice Cream Sandwich yesterday (Android 4.0.3, build: IML75K.WW_epad-9.2.1.11-20120221) and just now had a similar event: Winamp playing music, pressed Play/Pause on the headphones and waited for the music to stop, turned them off, then a second or two later (Google) Music was playing some random music through the tablet speakers.

So it's an intermittent problem, it doesn't always happen. But it happens in both Android 3.2.1 and 4.0.3.

Attention Winamp devs: possible fix

Somebody suggested a fix for this behaviour over on Google Code that has reported positive results. See comment #46.

Can someone let me know where to get a reliable v1.1.x apk file?
I made the mistake of upgrading the other day and now I've lost my BT controls.

Edit: I found the apk file, have installed it, but when I restart my phone, and try to start Winamp, it force closes.
