What was the last thing you sold?
How did we go this long without a thread by this title?
We went with cat and not dog for a long time, so I fixed that. We went with bought without sold for a long time, so I'm hoping this will be the solution. I finally figured out why those scavengers are so aggressive. It actually pays big to sell garbage. I can make twice as much money selling garbage than I can being a masters degree professional, in half the time. Three 4-hour days of "scrapping" paid me the same as six 10-hour days of counseling. A little spring break project if you will. I was clearing/cleaning an old collapsed barn, and decided to try to sell some of the metal junk from it like sheet-steel roofing, old water and air-compressor tanks, old mower decks, vehicle parts, gutters, appliances, old-dead car batteries, etc. on family property. The old barn had been down a couple decades, so a lot of stuff was under tree roots, under beams and building parts, sunk into the ground, or still attached. I had to use log chains and the truck to yank a lot of stuff loose before I could load it to a trailer while dealing with a lot of brush and briars, but really, it was well worth the work. It's not hot enough yet for sun burns, poison ivy, or bees/hornets/wasps, and I could still wear long pants and sleeves, gloves, and work boots without getting overheated. It was a pretty ideal time to do this. If any of you have random metal shit laying around, go to your local scrap yard and sell it. They actually pay decent money for your garbage. The pictured load (the best of the three loads) sold for $440 and took around 4 hours to yank loose, load, and deliver (some was in the truck under the cap too). ![]() A big electromagnet crane at the scrapyard unloaded me in about 3 minutes. That thing was pretty impressive. I'd like to operate one of those things for a day. Looks fun. ![]()
