Push to talk volume increases
Hello ! I have an external mixer behringer and using shoutcast to broadcast my music. Everything seems to work fine , sound is clear but when i press push to talk (i have microphone hooked on the mixer as well) the volume of the music increases and users barely can hear me on their end. What can be wrong and how can i fix it ? Thank you very much
I am using Windows 7 as far as OS. |

If you have the microphone on the external mixer then why would you want to hit the PTT anyway? The only reason to do that would be if you had the microphone going to the computer on a completely isolated channel. Just use the external mixer to control the microphone input.
Or do you have some sort of other weird gig-up that you did not mention in your original post? |

push to talk
you are right ! I am using Behringer XENYX 1002FX Mixer ..I am new to this so I apologize for lack of knowledge .. The thing that i liked about push to talk is that it would bring down the music while talking and when you release the button the music increases.

I'm assuming you have Winamp playing to the soundcard and the soundcard output hooked up to the mixer on one of the channels, and then the mixer output hooked up to the soundcard's input. With the microphone hooked up to the mixer on it's own channel the SHOUTcast DSP can't differentiate the audio of the music versus the audio of the microphone. To be able to use the PTT feature of the SHOUTcast DSP in the manner you desire you would need to get rid of the external mixer entirely and connect the microphone directly to the soundcard's input and then put the soundcard into "Stereo Mix" or "What U Hear" mode.
The only reason you would use an external mixer in such a hookup would be to manually control both the music and the microphone levels manually (or by using some feature of the external mixer that maybe I'm not presently aware of.) If you want to keep the current gig-up you would need to lower the music from Winamp by turning it down on the external mixer then unmute the microphone channel and speak. When done speaking, mute microphone then put the music from Winamp back to the level you had before. |
