Follow BPM
Hi!
Could be possible that Winamp follow a sort of rules for the random play? I mean... I've got a lot of mp3, with a lot of different genre. Obviously, when I play them randomly, I pass from metal to classical to metal again. Why can't set to follow the BPM and look for the next song to play with a number of BPM near to the last song's one? I hope you understand what I wrote... ![]() Bye! |

an alternative could be a dynamic playlist, where the genre is a specific one. then you could randomize this playlist. thats the way I do it now.... |

Hi Asder99,
I too have been searching for an easy way to sort playlists by BPM. I your case (since you just want random songs and if you have filled in the BPM tag for your songs), you can add the BPM column to the media library's total song listing and sort the list by BPM. Then select all or a group of consecutive songs for transfer to the player's playlist. Right click on any column heading in the media library listing to add or remove columns. Left click on any column heading to sort by that column. Left click again to reverse the sort order. Manual playlist creation will be greatly enhanced if Winamp ever adds the ability for multi-column sorting. For example, it is not now possible to sort by genre and then sort that list by BPM. Another alternative is to use the ATF (advanced title formatting) codes to add the BPM tag to the beginning of the song title displayed in the playlist editor. Then you can use the editor's 'misc - sort - title' command to rearrange the list in ascending or descending order.
Looks kinda bad, having the BPM in the title, but it gets the job done and is only displayed by the views that use the ATF string. Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1, WA Pro 5.7.0.3392 beta, cPro MPxi_remix skin, 5.1 speaker system |

How about beat matching? Maybe that's asking too much.

Take a look at the last post (#8) in the thread linked below. There is an older plug-in that offers beat matching.
