Kenwood Playlist Editing
I have been searching for a bit on this, either this is not an issue for anyone, no one has wanted to do this, or I am not searching the correct terms.
I have a Kenwood X993 that I use a USB drive for playing music. Kenwood has a program (Kenwood music Editor) for managing content. I want to use Winamp to manage content. The drive and tracks show up fine in Winamp; however no playlists. Playlists I create do not show up in the car. I cannot find anything that tells me Kenwood's playlist format, or any plugins that might help. There is a musiclib.db and a kenwood.dap file that seem to drive content for the stereo. |

Hi cschema,
I also own a Kenwood car radio, being able to play mp3 playlists from stick. But the Kenwood Software for PC is extremly crappy, painfully slow and right now it has wrecked my database, so I've to start all over again. I've been looking for an alternative a very long time, but there is very little to find. The only thing I found was a tool called "KPE" (Kenwood Playlist Editor) by Fernando Rodriguez. Nice piece of Software, but also unable to handle .m3u or .pls files. Furthermore, I could find out that the Kenwood Database on the USB stick and on the PC is held in a format called "SQLite". There is a software out there called "SQLite Database Browser", where you can take a peek into the database. I'm no real software engineer or database wiazrd. I think you have to find out the meaning of each field inside the database files, maybe then it's possible to write a software which is able to import Winamp playlists to the Kenwood radio. After all Fernando did found out. |
