[SPLIT] Authhash Creation Error 466 - String values too long due to DNAS bug
Error in trying to create Authhash - Error 466 "parameter outside of allowed range'. This is a Windows server 2000 system with build ver 2.0.0.29 (win32).
We had someone edit the sc.serv.conf file directly and they deleted the reference to the authhash and streamurl. I renamed the sc.serv.conf to another name and copied the backup file and renamed it sc.serv.conf. However, although the live winamp encoder can connect with the server, no one can listen to the stream and I get the above error when trying to create an authhash. I also tried re-creating the sc.serv.conf and sc.trans.conf files with the config builder. Again, the encoder can connect but I get the same error when trying to build the authhash. I am assuming the previous authhash is tied to my system IP but I can't remove it at this point and cannot rebuild it. Is there a command line where I can either a) find the existing authhash and hand input it into the config files or b) delete the existing authhash and build a new one. The server IP has Not changed. Thank you |

466 usually happens when one of the text fields is over the limit allowed with the current authhash defaults (unfortunately the build you are using doesn't correctly enforce those limits).
stream name is limited to 50 chars (will be bumped to 100) and the description, keywords and website are limited to 128 chars. so as long as things are within that limit then it'll be ok. you can just delete the existing authhash from the config file and restart the DNAS to be able to go in an create a new one via the server admin pages. there's a fair chance it's been auto-removed from the system and is the likely cause of no clients being able to connect - the log would indicate if there are YP errors as without an authhash and a correct YP connection, the v2 DNAS will not allow clients as it's in an illegal state as it uses the authhash information for the client connections. -daz |
