Listening to the stuff people posted between my last post and this one. Thanks for the recommendations!
I was also listening to today's latest hip-hop club music, screening it for language since the prom season is coming near. I'd hate to admit it, but I'm starting to lose most of what's left of my interest in what mainstream school-aged students listen to these days (Kesha, LMFAO, Lil Wayne, Katy Perry, etc). I never really loved "pop", but for some reason I could tolerate it for a gig if I knew I'd cash a check when done. Now I'm starting to really get sick of it. Am I getting old? Don't forget to live before you die.

No, Ted. Music in general has gotten shitty. Especially your big name manufactured sounds like the people you mentioned.
I personally would shoot myself if I had to listen to any one of those four artists for longer than 10 minutes. edit: I just spent the past three hours scowling the bowels of the internet for "good" electro, trance, house, fidget house, electro-house, etc ... tracks. I found 4 that I found acceptable. Not quite enough to build a new fresh set from. Guess what? We are doing a flashback set tonight! |

My set from last night.
After my post above, I begged and pleaded until some good dj friends sent some quality promos. |

Ted you have to live in Greece. Here everybody listens to "σκυλάδικα (skilathika the worst subculture in the planet)" plus eurovision and American crappy mainstream music (BYP, Eminem, 50 cent). |

Lisa Lashes - 60k fb fans
I remember listening to σκυλάδικα (oh yeah, just found some on youtube; that's the stuff) when I went to Greece with my in-laws a few years back. It's entertaining, to a foreigner, for about 10 minutes. I believe we were listening to it on a boat that we took from Santorini to Crete, which is actually where my in-laws are from. Ended up finding the house of my father-in-law's grandmother and ran into a few cousins in the local town. Been wanting to get back to Greece for quite a while now ... |

I think Greece is the best place for vacations and the worse for everything else (live, work, educate, etc). What I'm saying is you live and work in Stockholm with humane conditions for 11 months and you got so much money for a whole month to spend in Greek islands (Κεφαλλονιά . Why you took me away from Sweden mom and dad?

Bring It Down (aka Give Me Wobble!)
True. When we were in Greece we spent three or four days in Athens. Let's just say we were all ready to leave. That city is a zoo at best. |

Today I am listening to Spiritual Choirs (I have queued all songs into the music player of ReverbNation)
http://www.reverbnation.com/artist/artist_songs/1040458 I have become a fan of Helen Blencowe today. And I have got many new MP3-Files from SoundCloud, also new podcasts, and I needed many check-ups on the websites to choose the genres. @ Mosabsolum, do You also know George Fenton With The BBC Orchestra and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra? I see, You like orchestras very much... Greetings from Sabine Klare Aka Sternenmaschinebine |

Lisa Lashes - Lashed podcast (April 2012)
It's all sorts of kick ass to hear a superstar dj drop tracks in her monthly podcast as "some of her best" that you have been playing since they were released. Floor really explodes on them too. |

The Bring It Down set is clearly the best so far, by quite a margin. It fits what I look for in a lot more ways than those past, which were already pretty good. Is there a way I could acquire a copy of that? I think it would make good driving music, and I don't want to rip it without permission.

Thanks for the feedback ted!
As for the set, there is a down arrow on the top of the play box for the set. That should allow you do download it. If not, let me know and I'll upload it to my dropbox account so I can get you a proper 320kbps version. If downloaded from sound cloud, you will get the 320k version, if ripped, you will only get 128k. Sadly, on my monitors at home I can tell the difference between 128k and 320k. |

[QUOTE=You prefer flat monitors to hear music?[/QUOTE]
I prefer to use monitor speakers because they don't distort the low bass lines of music. When ever I am mixing my sets, I've always got monitors around me somewhere either as external speakers or headphones. In reality you need to get a mix of both worlds because what sounds great on your pristine monitor speakers won't necessarily sound the best on club speakers that have been beat on for a year and will distort your lows like crazy. |
