Direct from FTP?
Hey guys...i'm really busting **** here trying to find an answer for weeks!
I'm in the process of opening a major web station, managing playlist and content can be excruciating and i know that some stations have something like that in their stations, what i want to achieve is to open an ftp account to each DJ, and he uploads his content to the folder, the Auto dj reads the content of that folder and automatically play that file...dose anyone know of some kind of script that exist to do this? i'm on the hunt for a VPS and considering Centova for it...but is this doable? Thank you for your help, Guy. |

This forum is broken
it says "delete" or "edit" so i look for that "delete" option but it doesn´t exist. so you get useless messages like this. I mentioned this before..but ofcourse as expected the moderators have no time or energy to repair it. |

I see you asked there where you should have asked
you are lucky they (Centova) were able to somewhat help you but sooner or later you wil run into bugs..cause the current version (V2xxxx) is from 2009 and it does have bugs that they refuse to repair. Dont get exited for their V3...its easier to win the lottery ! ...it will take another 5 years before that is stable...if ever In addition, if your Dj´s are going to upload long shows where the whole show is one single mp3 file...then it might work without updating the media-library...just make shure your titles AND iD tags are the same Not saying it will work but i cant think right now why not (unless they give each file a unique (internal) iD when you do a library update) I solved that by having my Dj´s send/mail their files to me then i upload them myself...which is actually only a few mins work like that i can also volume/equalize them myself (Audacity) I myself would not trust others to touch my Centova. You might be able to automate that mail-to-you + ftp-upload route...which would be another solution. Another stream-autodj software called "Cast Control" should be able to do what you want since it dont use that "update media library" but the playlists are simple text-files...which your dj´s can upload together with the mp3´s ...but that software does have other flaws and bugs. To be honest: all available server-based autodj´s suck and are full with bugs they only exist because no-one makes some thing better...i have spend 6 months researching it..and still my Centova causes my server to stop once a week so now i need to build a stream-checker with sms-alarm (silence-detector) You should be able to get 100 listeners @ 128kb for as little as 35 Euros p/month thats why i said to take that first..to learn..then you could decide for your own server. . |

Thank you for replying.
Regarding Centova. I do know they have an extremely flawed system and bad support. that is because they simply have retards working for them and eventually Steve lost his team (rumors and hints). i do believe that if Centova can lift themselves up and rebuild the company and staff..they can be one of the powerful CP softwares around. period! I eventually rented a dedicated server that hopefully will give me around 500 listeners with ease. and with some help from Centova. i managed to do a few cronjobs that automates exactly what i needed, and combined all of these with a custom upload page where dj's can upload the content and the script moves the files to the Centova folder. extremely automated procedure ![]() Granted, V3 is buggy, also V2..but as you said, its the only descent thing around i guess ![]() Thank you for trying to help m8 |
