WOR Radio has stopped working in Winamp
This address for radio station WOR in New York worked for a long time in Winamp until today: http://3083.live.streamtheworld.com:80/WORAM_SC
Now it still connects and seems to play (the elapsed time increments normally) but there is no audio. The direct URL to the stream that I got from the player on the WOR webpage today is: http://208.80.52.198/WORAMAAC?streamtheworld_user=1&nobuf=1339164142264 The above URL will not open in Winamp, but it does open and play audio in another media player, MPlayer or SMPlayer (GUI front end to MPlayer). Why doesn't it play in Winamp? Thanks. |

Try adding /.flv or ?ext=.flv or ?.flv (whichever works best) to the end of the second address you provided.

After doing a little trial and error the following address works better...
http://208.80.52.198/WORAMAAC?ext=.flvIf that does not work try one of the other two suffixes suggested above. ?ext=.flv works best (at least at my end). |

Thanks a lot for the answer. Both ?.flv and ?ext=.flv work. This reminds me of several years ago in Winamp when I used to have to add /.WMA to some addresses so that the WMA plugin would render the stream. I guess this is a similar thing where in this case Winamp has to be told that it's a Flash file.
Are there any other plugins that sometimes need pointing to with an add-on extension in streams that won't play otherwise? Thanks again. |

Winamp can't guess the format and thus it uses the extension to know which plug-in to use. So, if extension or format info is not present in the stream that is when substituting an extension is needed.
