fresh install, no applied skin appears = ?

I can't install skins either in my Winamp 5.63 Free version on Windows7. I've once uninstalled and once re-run the installer making sure that "modern skin support" is checked while (re)installing. But, the same result in the end. It falls back to the classic skin after a new skin install

The new skin doesn't even figure in the choice list of skins in Winamp. Its quite weird this thing!

Can anyone please help me solve this?
