how can people listen to my radio?
i just opened a free radio station but i followed all the steps but i dont know where the listeners could go so they can listen to my radio.
i am using winamp version 5.63 on an Windows 7 desktop. i also opened a website in Freewebs.com and i would like to put the radio station in my website so it would be easier for people to go and listen to my radio, but i could not find anything online that could help me. i am a newbie at this and i would really appreciate it if someone could tell me how to put my radio station on my website or some way of letting listeners reach my station or what info can i give them. Thank you |

you have all the information you need if you are successfully streaming to a DNAS server
ip address (or hostname) and port ... the link for listeners would be http://ipaddress:port/index.html or http://hostname:port/index.html you can link directly to the "listen" link, but I don't know if your DNAS is v1 or v2 - so, the above is a good starting point note: if you are streaming to DNAS v1 - the port will be the port you stream to LESS 1, e.g. if you stream to 8001, the port above would need to be 8000 General Shoutcast troubleshooting guide

of course ... if you are streaming to a LOCAL DNAS - then you have the added complexity of
a) figuring out your internet (not local) IP adrees b) port forwarding on your router c) calculating how many listeners your internet connection upstream bandwidth can handle General Shoutcast troubleshooting guide

http://108.38.201.104/index.html i dont know what i did wrong. also i read online that in order to be found on the directory you must put the IP address and the port number together in the IP box, like this 108.38.201.104:8000 is this true? |

108.38.201.104:8000 doesn't resolve to a valid server.
that means either the DNAS server is not running or you have not got the correct details or you've not opened port 8000 from the machine running the DNAS server on (is not clear if you're self-hosting of using a host provider) and the Internet. unless the DNAS can be seen, no one is going to be able to connect to it. if you can confirm the DNAS is running, then i would suggest having a look at http://wiki.winamp.com/wiki/SHOUTcast_YP_Nak_Errors about how to find the way to open ports (assuming you are self-hosting). if this is an issue via a hosted setup, then you need to get them to help you out as most likely you won't be able to resolve things on your own. -daz |

108.38.201.104 reverse DNS lookup => pool-108-38-201-104.lsanca.dsl-w.verizon.net
"pool", suggests dynamic IP address - another level of complexity for the n00bish See my troubleshooting tips below General Shoutcast troubleshooting guide
