no sound in android winamp

I'm having a strange problem. I'm using windows 7 on my desktop machine and have winamp installed and my music library loaded into it. It works great. I decided to use winamp on my galaxy nexus android phone and was able to wifi sync to the desktop and move music over there but when winamp tries to play it nothing happens. Strangely, I can play the files with google play. I would like to use winamp. Any idea what is happening?
