http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?p=2871298 i haven't tested it, so i can't confirm. but in any case, i think you are going thru more steps than necessary. also, its not as safe, b/c in your way, if you change the album string, it will break the art. it also doesn't give you a backup in case the main art is deleted or otherwise maliced. i can right click open the albums folder, and just drag and drop in the image, copy, and rename the copy. this provides a backup, makes the art work with windows explorer, and makes the art work regardless of album string matching. thanks for that link. I have used drag and drop technique as well, but I didn't know it made difference. Thank you for pointing it out. When i got home today, i checked, and I can confirm that it is true ! When pasted in winamp artwork tab, winamp does reduce file size, by 3.5 to 4 times. I compared the original artwork i kept all in single folder with the equivalents created by pasting into winamp which are now in music folders. So, for example: If original was 1400x1400pix 1Mb jpeg, winamp will turn it into 1400x1400pix 279Kb jpeg file. I looked carefully at quality difference, and i must say it is not noticeable, at least not when viewed at 100% side by side. Both images appear identical to me. Im sure difference is there if i zoomed like 200%, but I don't think I will rush to correct it all. I have originals just in case. |
