Songs keep disappearing after I drag&drop

Okay, I'm hoping somebody can tell me what's going on...I downloaded a CD from Amazon, a trance compilation with 101 songs...I was draggin' & droppin' & havin' a good time, when I had to leave for a bit...When I came back to finish, several of the songs I just added were no longer there, and when I typed in to search, it came up "0," like nothing listed by that title!!
Tonight I put a title in and moved on to another song, only to find that within about FIVE minutes, the first song was gone!! Now I went back to Amazon and re-downloaded the album & deleted the first one...I got 96 of the 101 songs loaded...and again, titles I had JUST loaded were nowhere to be found!!! Is something wrong with your "song-putter-inner"?? Why is it not "keeping" things?? Am I doing something wrong?? I just do it like I've always done it...Or did I get a lemon from Amazon?? The songs that are there play fine...
I LOVE you guys, you saved my sanity after iTunes jerked me off & shut down on me...
Can you please give me some ideas?? Thank you most sincerely!!
