you might need to run winamp once by right clicking the shortcut and doing "run as administrator"
the vis prob are causing win7 to react. PENN STATE Radio or http://www.LION-Radio.org/ -- BUG #1 = Winamp skips short tracks Wish #1 = Multiple Column Sorting Wish #2 = Add TCMP/Compilation editing |

you need to give people some useful information to work with like a plug-ins list, etc as currently no one knows what OS or Winamp version or any of the visualisations you've tried to install. as the OS you're using will and does have an effect on what and how Winamp works (e.g. it sounds like you're on Vista or Windows 7 but that's me guessing and wasting both our time).

thats ancient in winamp terms. 3rd party plugins from that long ago are likely to be the cause and unless the author fixes them, you're out of luck. uninstall them is the best advice.

thats confusing to me, b/c if u had any 3rd party stuff it should show up there, and if you did a clean install, no wonder its gone, but then why the crash?
maybe DrO will see something i don't. PENN STATE Radio or http://www.LION-Radio.org/ -- BUG #1 = Winamp skips short tracks Wish #1 = Multiple Column Sorting Wish #2 = Add TCMP/Compilation editing |

so they were AVS presets and not true visualisation plug-ins, that's why you've not been able to see them as you have to select them via the AVS plug-ins preset menu.
as for the main issue, other than the plug-ins list being incomplete (really needed the header section), the inability to drag and drop points at an elevation issue between wherever it is you're trying to drag & drop the files from as Windows 7 with UAC enabled will show that same effect if you've run Winamp at a different user level to the program you're trying to drag the files from. other than making sure Winamp _isn't_ being run with administrator privileges (from menus or from being set on the shortcut used to run Winamp), there is nothing else that i can think off which would cause that issue. as a i said earlier on you're not giving people enough information to determine what is the cause as your only giving partial bits of information. any bit of information however useless you think it might be could make it easier to determine the point of the issue. this is now the 2 post i'm having to guess at what is going on because of that and that's wasting everyones time. and with that, i'm now finally going to have my weekend - maybe someone else will have a better suggestion / solution as i'm out now. -daz |
