Playing audio from USB Stick?

I've been using winamp as my default player on my desktop PC for years so naturally when i bought an android phone one of the first apps which got downloaded was winamp. To my disappointment there's no where to select folders, only albums, genre, artists etc. As most of my folders are mixed artist compilations, the lists of music are a nightmare.

More recently I purchased an android media player for my home stereo and haven't been happy with the music player, though it does list folders as you'd expect. Then I read here that winamp pro lists folders so that music can be played that way. But I do not see these folders listed anywhere. Again tons of artists and albums all over the place, but no folders. I've followed the instructions thus: To navigate to the “Folders” view go to: Home Screen >> Menu >> Folders (is that the android player homepage or the page one sees on first launching the app?) I assume it's the latter, but where is the menu? There is nothing labeled it??? If I hit the three vertical dots, I get a menu, which has a folders option, below that is numerous folders, but nothing indicated USB drive or similar where the mp3 and flac files are stored. I hope I haven't wasted my money on another app which promises more than delivers! Please help - Thanks.
