Click Sound between tracks
I have a problem with Winamp 5.63 on Windows XP. When changing tracks, I can hear a click sound, similar to that when you click a link in a browser. I want to remove that sound. My Sound Scheme is set to "No Sounds". Do you know what could be the problem? Thanks for help!

I don't think is related with mouse's settings. Even if I have 2 tracks in the playlist, after the first one is finnished and the 2nd one is about to start, that "click sound" can be heared again. No mouse click is involved in this case, but the sound is still there.

Hi housewave,
Did you make your music files or downloaded them? Sometimes the 'click' is in the files themselves, at the beginning or end of the song (an artifact of how they were made). There is an app that will let you cut out that portion of your files, but you will have to do it file by file. http://mpesch3.de1.cc/mp3dc.html Windows 10 Home 64-bit v21H2 desktop - Logitech Z906 5.1 speaker system |

the files are downloaded, I know them well, I listened to them many many times. The thing is I reinstalled the system and all the software on my PC a week ago and I think this issue is related to Winamp. Before the OS installation, those files went ok, no click at the end/beginning of the tracks. And oh, I forgot, they're mp3 files.

no one doubts that, but then there is no harm in checking either. if they are mp3, run them thru mp3val, see what it says.

If it is not the files, there is a long list of other possibles. There is such a list on the forum, but I don't remember just where it is. You could do a search for it.

Even though you did set the sound scheme to "No Sounds", that might be the Media Library's Now Playing section or the Song Info box (bottom of local views) as pages are loaded. As you mentioned, basically it is the same as Internet Explorer clicks or dings as different pages are loaded. The ML uses IE for the Online Services and Now Playing. Try this...
If not that, it might be a third party plug-in alerting you when a track is played or an advance in the playlist. (example: AudioBurst) |

JonnyMac, you were right. Exactly that was the problem. Now it's solved. Didn't know that "Complete Navigation" sound remained on, even if I set SoundScheme to "No Sound". Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!

Another Windows inconsistency to remember, "No Sound" should mean NO Sound.
![]() I do use a customized sound scheme and that particular item is set to none. Been so long, I forgot about it. Thanx for the reminder, JonnyMac. Windows 10 Home 64-bit v21H2 desktop - Logitech Z906 5.1 speaker system |
