Winamp, Droid Razr, Itunes…
My X is taking the hard drive of music that we have so half of my iTunes library will be gone. OK, whatever. BUT I've been using iTunes as my main music player and I want to use winamp as my main music player instead on my mac. All of my iTunes music transferred to Winamp already. I am going to delete some playlists and songs from iTunes, won't have the original song that are already in Winamp. How do I keep these playlists on winamp but delete the songs from the iTunes Media folder and ensure winamp deletes them too.
I am also going to move my music to new folders to keep on my mac, since I won't have the hard drive copy. Is there a way to redirect all songs to the new music folder? I just got a droid Razr and iTunes doesn't like it, main reason I'm switching to winamp. On my droid Im not using the winamp app, I'm using MixZing Media Player, for now, will the new playlists be able to transfer from winamp app to the phone app? Are you confused? Yeah me too. |

ur all over the place. one thing at a time.
you both can have all the music. if he takes the drive, so what? just copy it all first to either an existing drive u have, or one you buy. i am assuming there is no DRM involved. winamp on the mac is still very beta. and i would put winamp on your droid, its free. depending on what you mean by playlists, and what winamp on the mac can do, u may be in or out of luck. the main thing, imo, is to get all the music together, stop using itunes, and start using winamp for mac and winamp on your droid. the weak link is winamp for mac, and you might want to put a windows partition on your mac just to run regular winamp. sounds extreme, but its what i would do. I was thinking what if I copy all the music to the external hd, delete all music from iTunes, my computer and from winamp, put the music that I want back on the computer and add those to only winamp.Would that simplify it? What order should I delete songs: from the iTunes app, the iTunes folder where the actual songs are located, or from Winamp.

if it were me, i'd copy all the music to one location, prob the external HD, and then i'd disconnect it.
then i would delete all the music on the computers local hard drives, wherever you may find it. order done doesn't matter. then i would probably uninstall all the apps, like itunes and winamp, and delete all their prefs, their folders, and so on. that can take more than just a simple uninstall. but if you have certain playlists, ie. hard files like *.pls or *.m3u, you have to save those to the ext HD as well. then i would install only winamp back. keep in mind, i'm not a native mac or itunes user, so i don't even know if you can fully delete itunes from a mac. then i would copy the music to the local HD if there was space, and keep the ext as a backup. then i would point winamp at it. you might find that you don't have any artwork. thats b/c itunes may have kept your art in a DB. u might have some art, thats probably embedded in the tags.
