The thread has now died enough that I think WinAMP Forums has said all it's going to say. Much to both of our disappointment, neither one of us is right. Seems that the 7-7 vote has both of us wrong when we make a claim that one situation happens more than the other.
A bigger sample size would probably help – 14 Winamp users isn't exactly what I'd call a necessarily indicative study.
