Problem recording from mixer

I cannot record from my mixer. I can only record from my microphone. Is there a way to fix this? I clicked on Advanced and selected Mixer as recorder but the bar that shows the dB level says CLIP. Whenever I choose Mixer as the recorder, the listeners hear this high-pitched noise kind of like static that will blow your speakers. When I choose microphone to record, it's not loud enough. Please help!

Have you adjusted the volume levels for the mic and wave sound in the playback control panel? It sounds like you have some things in there out-of-wack that need to be adjusted.

In Recording, I have Mixer set to max. In Master Volume, I have All Waves and Speaker set to max and Microphone set to zero. Everything is set up correctly, but people hear static when I choose record from Mixer. Record from Mic works but it's very faint. Is there something wrong with my sound card? I have a RipTide sound card.

Max maybe too high and you are getting distortion. Start with them all about mid way and adjust from there. Here is a screen shot of my settings: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=49744

The clip in the DSP means that your sound levels are too high so it is clipping (amplitude > 0 db). Try playing with the volumes in the DSP (currently all set at 100% and lower those a bit). Also you may want to mute the linein in the Master Volume. It looks like you have everything setup correctly it's just that the volumes seem to be too high.

Hmmm people say that my music is still a little soft. I can't make it any louder. Here are my settings at http://members.telocity.com/~lolaero...houtcast2.jpg. Another thing I found out, if I turned off the advanced settings, then people said they could hear it A LOT better and is loud and clear. However, I don't like turning off advanced settings because I can't click to talk. Any solutions?

What happens when you turn up your Mixer in the recording panel?

If I turn up Mixer, then people say it gets unclear and distorted again. Like you said, if it's too loud, it'll CLIP. I don't know why my Mixer needs to be so low in order for it to not CLIP.

You're just going to have to play with all those settings until you find a combination that works. Avoid extreme lows or highs. It seems odd that your system sounds are that high but you are not getting blown out of the room. Set your external volume on the speakers to about half and then adjust it all.
