AOL Layoffs
Wondering if anyone can tell me if the recent AOL layoff's will affect Shoutcast? I believe AOL and Shoutcast are related and I really hope this will not effect us.

@WahDah...........
That was a very DIPLOMATIC answer ![]() since they are not the same...since they dont bring in the same money. who says they cant stop Shoutcast and go-on with just Winamp ? I dont have the impression that the shoutcast-staff is huge ![]() and that its being given much attention (by AOL et al) I dont understand why they cant turn this into a profitable model everything would be ok...as long as you dont "touch" the streams itself. If Shoutcast disappears..is technically not important (i hope) all that happens is that the shoutcast.com listing will disappear. But many radio-portals use the data from the shoutcast.com website to populate their lists (they told me) ...that includes specially radioportal-APPs. Shoutcast disappearing will kill maybe 30%, 40 % of the worldwide radio-streams, at least for a year or 2....3 Stations will have to work very hard to get listed otherways. Sounds possible ... or crap ? |
