Fake Station Streams

There are 2 streams showing up on shoutcast boards one called Shoutcast the other called Radio. Both are showing up under metal, and jazz. Streams stay at 399 listeners unless you click to listen. When you click to listen you'll get a loop of what sounds like a hard drive spinning. Both streams been running over a week now. How is this person faking the stream listener counts? Here see for your self.

They are running a FREE shoutcast server and changed the program because its easy to read a fake # of listeners and what not. Prob a hacker trying to nab IP addresses. See when anyone listens to a station their IP shows up. You can trace it to their ISP and this guy probably figures he can get some kids computers, send a virus to them and make them into zombie bots to attack other computers.

That is why I think Shoutcast should have been p2p streaming technology, Encrypted with 128 bit encryption and lthen let the program tell you where your listeners are. You wold have solved two problems.

1. Cost of Bandwidth. Since everyone is a relay there would be no need for a server. The only thing to pay for is Royalties. Your license would have a serial # just like a program does and then have DRM check to see if it is valid. If so your on the air.

2. Since the program would be encrypted no one can modify it, hack and make fake streams. I guarantee you you'll start to see more and more of this for one reason terrestrial Radio operators would love to see Internet Radio die especially if they don't have an internet station themselves. Plus some members of the RIAA may not be happy with what their getting paid. So as a means to Blot out Metal, Progressive Rock and Classic Rock they'll start faking streams of your favorite internet stations in order to force everyone not to listen to Internet Radio (Just like they did to Kazaa to get rid of them) Any measure to stifle the competition the RIAA will use. I'd advice anyone listening to Shoutcast to start using Peer Guardian to block out the RIAA and Shoutcast hosting companies you should do the same. Use Peer Guardian on your servers to block out those Stream Rippers and fake listeners you'll start to get in order to run up your ATH and force you offline. Remember Internet Radio is at War with terrestrial Radio operators like Clear Channel and these companies may or may not use measures to get rid of Hobby Radio.

If this starts too much I'll go back to streamerp2p. At least KMeat gets rid of people on Streamer who cause trouble.

hmmm swcast.net huh

Well if its so easy to fake a shoutcast stream! care to tell me how its done? someone that is with swcast.net Why would you first come off and say someone trying to hack ips? Clicking on the stream may show a ip in stats but wont let you hack an ip dumb ass. So im guessing a couple of things here. Are you the one with the stream and trying to keep people from clicking on it to see its a fake stream or you just trying to sell your swcast.net shit. So back to the issue. We have someone faking a stream and it needs to be removed. Who can block the person doing it? so it doesn't effect stats of the real stations.

Please try to refrain from this kind of behaviour to stop yourself being banned, if people take the time to answer your posts its not very nice to be abused for it.

This one is definitely fake as well. Used to belong to Hard Rock Radio Live until it closed its doors in February. Mysteriously the stream has re-appeared with several so-called listeners on it. Stream was lent to Metal World Radio and that day they peaked over 100..now its being used by Nuclear Rock Radio and has several listeners on it. Shagmelove is or at least was the owner of this stream Investigate this stream please to make it fair to all online stations. 66.90.103.189:8868
