How to delete a genre that is empty

The subject heading is basically my question.

Just a little backstory:

I just got my first android phone and installed Winamp. The phone, by default, came with a song that is in the "Symphony Rock" genre that Winamp picked up. After deleting the song off my phone, Winamp still has the "Symphony Rock" listed, with 0 songs. I do not have any of my music in the "Symphony Rock" genre, so... how do I get rid of it?

Hi

Winamp For Android v1.x just uses the Android media database.

To rebuild the Android media database:

Close the app, and go to:

Android OS 2.x = Android Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All > Media Storage > Clear data
Android OS 4.x = Android Settings > Apps > All > Media Storage > Clear data

Restart the phone/device, then wait a few minutes for the media database to be rebuilt before opening the Winamp app
(you should see an "Indexing Files" icon in the notification area).

[Edit]

Re: below
No, this is just the media database (music, pictures & videos listed in google player/gallery/etc).
No physical files or settings are deleted/removed.
On restarting the device, the database will be automatically rebuilt.

I just did a quick read and read that clearing data will clear the data for all the apps I've downloaded, as well. For example, for apps that require a log on will actually ask me to log on again, and I may even have to customize some of the apps to the way I want it, as if I just downloaded the app for the first time. Therefore, is this the only workaround?

Clearing the Media Data should not affect any of the apps. It just erases the media db that Android builds. But, if you want to be real safe. Start WFA select Genre then press and hold the genre that you want to work with. A menu should appear that has delete on it. You can take it from here.
