Buying domestic cars......does it matter anymore?

We drive them an average of 6 miles per trip. 2 gallons of gas to get a gallon of milk? Practical? You're driving a ton of machine to haul a couple hundred pounds of you and 20 or 30 pounds of cargo, if it's not a gallon of milk, a burrito and 2 packs of smokes.... just my last trip. I needed 300 ponies for that? Electric pogo stick?
