Can't play .m3u playlists?
Winamp for Android 1.4.11
Google Nexus 4 running Android 4.3 (rooted) I've been a long time user and fan of Winamp and I'm sure it used to play .m3u playlists directly from my file manager (ES File Explorer) but I just tried it and it doesn't work. Could this be due to 4.3 or am I mistaken that it used to work? I know I can select 'Playlists' in Winamp but I'm in the habit of using ES to play stuff and would really like this to work. (The .m3u files were created in Winamp for Windows and work fine there.) Thanks, Simon. |

I think the problem is because of the structure of the m3u file. It will look like:
#EXTM3U #EXTINF:293,Armik - Gypsy Flame \\Media\Music\CDs\Armik\Gypsy Flame\01 Gypsy Flame.mp3 Notice that it give a complete path to the music file (in this case the network path). I suspect that you will need to point it to the files on your device for it to work. |

Thanks for your reply.
The playlists created in Winamp (PC version) use relative paths, i.e. music\tune.mp3 so they should be fine. By default they are in the long format with the # sections but I also tried it with just the path alone and it still didn't work. The trouble is that I can't remember if clicking on a playlist in a file manager would load Winamp (Android) and play the playlist or not. I thought it did and it should work that way, as it does on the PC, but that's what I am trying to confirm. |

Ahhh understood. On the pc you can set the file extensions .m3u .mp2 etc to use a specific program. I found this site that may help you set the file associations. http://www.brighthub.com/mobile/goog...es/103415.aspx

Thanks but it's the other way around, the PC works fine and fires up Winamp if I click on a .m3u file. My problem is that it doesn't work like that on the 'phone. I expected to be able to click on the playlist file and for Winamp (Android version) to play the files in it but it doesn't seem to work. If you have Winamp installed on your phone, could you see if it will play the .m3u files as expected? I'm not sure if it's something wrong with my setup or if the Android version doesn't handle them properly.
