Weird issues with high CPU once a day on sc_trans
Hello all,
I am pretty sure this is a symptom of another issue, and not the issue itself. Thought though, for due diligence, to post here and ask for opinions. I am using SHOUTcast Transcoder 2 Beta (Build 54) very successfully. But I have an issue that at EXACTLY 6am CST every day for approximately 60-90 seconds sc_trans hits 100% cpu on an 8 core 8Gig VPS. Needless to say for that 60-90 seconds the station is pretty much offline. Do I assume correctly that sc_trans (or even the sc_serv version 2) does not have any built in timed jobs that it runs? I know the log rotation in manual, or by sighup. The VPS logs show no other processes being triggered at that time, like cron jobs. Any comments welcome, Brian Our Place Radio |

Well, I was wrong. I am running SHOUTcast Transcoder 2 Beta (Build 54) on a centos 5.1 VPS with 8 cores and have determined it is the transcoder having a run away condition each morning. I just happened to have an older release (drop51) of the transcoder on another VPS and moved that transcoder into production. Issue went away. Logs show nothing. They are clean. So I will stay in this configuration... anyone else using drop 54 and see high CPU spikes, let me know. But for now I am back on drop 51

good!, i also use Centos (6.5) and i wonder, how you install Shoutcast on it?
Because i already read a lot of different ways to install it but i don't know what are the exact diferences between one and another, if you can give me any help it would be very apreciated ![]() Also, you just stream Shoutcast or you use another stuff too?, like icecast?, because i like to know how the listener counter works about it & how you register them on they respectible list. Do you make live programs with your set-up? Any help? it would be much apreciated. Thanks |
