Hosted PLS file (or linked stream to website) not playing on other players

Hello there,

I want to link my stream to a webpage (Like, http://example.com/listen.pls), so I followed the instructions from the Radio Toolbox tutorial.

The linked PLS file would play when I use Winamp. However, when I use other players, it doesn't play.

I use Combined Community Codec Pack (CCCP)'s Media Player Classic-Home Cinema, which supports PLS files. Whenever I try to open the stream, it would show "Failed to render the file." I also tried using VLC Media Player, and it shows a similar error as well.

I tried using both the webpage link (http://example.com/listen.pls) and the IP (http://1.1.1.1/listen.pls), but I got no luck.

So I tried to access the linked PLS file (http://example.com/listen.pls) through my browser. It downloaded the file, and when I open the file, the stream would play.

I'm not sure what's causing the problem, although I think there's two possible causes:
- There's a problem with the .pls file (permissions, code error, etc.)
- There's a problem with the player.

Really looking forward for solutions.

(To clarify, I'm referring to the hosted PLS file, not the stream itself. Using http://IP:PORT/listen.pls is just working fine.)
