Looking for help setting up a shoutcast server
Hi there,
Does anyone know where a total newb can find clear instructions on how to set up a shoutcast stream that automatically plays? I work for a wildlife charity and we would like to record and play advice about how to assist wildlife while callers are on hold to our emergency hotline. We have previously got as far as signing up to a stream service where the recorded messages could be played. The problem was that when we pasted the link into the software of our VoIP phone system nothing played. We think this is because to listen to the audio you need to go to the site and then press play. It seems the software we are using requires an automatically playing loop of audio as soon as you arrive at the site and isn't able to push the play button itself. Any help will be greatly appreciated! |

Need more information
Hi,
It's not clear what you are trying to achieve, what type of link is it you are saving in the VOip switch? Is the phone system expecting a constantly running stream? |

We need more info about how you handle it on your technical end. Because mobile devices like smartphones are blocking each autoplay function and there is no way to start it without to press a button. Embedded audio-player on html(5)-documents (which are running in a browser on a desktop computer) can do this with a little help of jQuery but I guess the VoIP phone system will not load an html-file. Maybe you can do this with an extra computer, which is running a player like winamp or vlc, which is playing the stream and then you could route the audio output to your VoIP phone system.
