I installed CNET's audiogalaxy, then found it pirated my internet dialup & compromised operation of winamp. Since uninstalling audiogalaxy, I can't get winamp to play my pre-existing MP3 files. How do I fix this problem?

Can you please explain the problem/s in more detail?
What do you mean by it pirated your internet dial-up? ![]() Also, please define "won't play" Do you mean when you double click mp3's in Explorer, they don't open in Winamp? If so . . . Winamp Prefs (Ctrl+P) -> Filetypes : select MP3 & any other formats of your choice. (PLS & M3U Playlists = definitely recommended) If you mean something else, then can you load the MP3's into Winamp by either draggin' & droppin' them from Explorer windows into Winamp's Playlist, or by using Winamp's Add button -> Add files/Add dir. If so, and the files load ok, what happens when you click the play button? Does the timer start counting and the seek bar start moving? Or is it just that you can't hear any audio? Answer these questions and we'll take things from there. Though sawg's suggestion is probably the right step to take after all

Winamp disabled: clarifications for DJegg
"Pirated dial-up" = Audiogalaxy programmed my computer to activate my modem & connect to its website whenever I turned on my computer, even if I logged out of Audiogalaxy before shutting computer down after previous sessions of use.
"Won't play" = play button works on only 1 MP3 file out of many files previously downloaded & playable; cannot drag & drop any MP3 file from my folder; add button works erratically, sometimes failing to access MP3 file folder, sometimes loading multiple files; when multiple files loaded, play button causes rapid scrolling among files, without audible playback. After disabling Audiogalaxy & deleting Audiogalaxy files, I reinstalled Winamp 2.76, with results explained above. HELP! |

Do MP3's play ok with other players, eg. Windows Media Player/RealPlayer?
Did you uninstall AG properly? (via Uninstall facility) Have you tried running your Anti-Virus software to scan ALL files on your HDD? Sorry to answer with even more questions, but hopefully this way we'll get there in the end. Please include some sys specs in your reply (especially Windows OS & Soundcard) btw, I'm sure you could've disabled AG from connecting @ bootup. I don't use it myself, so I'm not sure of the exact setting, but if it's not in AG Options somewhere, then surely you could've disabled it via start -> run -> msconfig -> startup tab. |
