The numbers are rapidly rising in the Netherlands. Next tuesday new rules will be announced by the goverment.
It won't surprise me that we are going in lockdown.
It seems to go south in the entire world at the moment as the number of infected people is climbing instead of dropping.

Each Thursday a new show on Celtica Radio with Darkwave music.

We're expecting new lockdown restrictions in the UK tomorrow from news reports as our numbers are rising rapidly. They took us out of lockdown to early first time around.

I was tested last saturday, thankfully the result was negative, just a 'regular' flu.

^good joke. Humor can be seen as either sacrilege or a necessary coping mechanism. Luckily our small town has relatively few cases that show up rather infrequently. I hope it stays at a point where the numbers are low enough where our local hospitals aren't overloaded like the more populated areas.

MEH! We're about to go into another Month long lockdown in the UK.

The Virus is still on the Increase here. They came out of the original lockdown far to too early but that's capitalism for you.

We hit 130,000 cases today in the United States. We're in a pretty big surge here. (source)

We're at over 10 million total cases here in the US with nearly 238,000 deaths. (source)

So far, cases have been relatively low locally as far as I know, but I'm being careful anyway. We live in a rural area, so that helps tremendously.

I am still required to work in person at a school. We're still only allowing half the students to attend at a time to allow for social distancing and reduced exposure if it comes to our building. I think that it seems to be a working compromise for now. If local numbers change, we could go back to all students in at once, or we could go full remote learning.

We have been watching this map for guidance:

Depends on where you are in Europe, Me nothern parts of the Netherlands and in my town there are hardly any people having the virus.
If you goto the big city areas of any major country you will find that the virus is going strong there due to the fact that keeping distance isn't possible.

If i go out with our dog on a saturdaynight at 10 pm i hardly see anyone out on the street.

144,270 today in the US. Holy shit. I wish I could hide those of you in more populated areas here in this remote area until this thing was over. You'd have to bring your own toilet paper though. I still see shortages from time to time around here and we only really buy enough for what we need so that we're not contributing to the shortages. You could work remotely here since the internet connection is relatively strong and reliable and there aren't too many distractions. Plus, I was just given a four pack of Guinness cans. First come first serve if you leave me one for Saturday.

I love how the conclusion is at page 10 of 96.

That's how a lot of scientific papers are organized. The summary including conclusion comes first, followed by the fine grained data/analysis/argument that lead to it.

I have heard a lot of people asking, "Are we 'essential,' or are we 'sacrificial'?" I'm not sure whether I agree or disagree with the sentiment behind the statement; I guess it depends on the job description and level of exposure. It sure helps to understand how some people are feeling through this though, whether it is a serious consideration or not.

My immediate family, only three people: wife, daughter, and I, spent the USA holiday Thanksgiving today without hosting a crowd of extended family members the way we normally do. We're used to both sets of parents, siblings and their kids, etc. Kinda odd with just the three of us this time. Many of our family members are "high risk" due to age, underlying health conditions, hot-spot home locations, or all of the above, so we're not hosting a big event like we normally would. Phone calls and video chat helped though, and I think that overall everyone is still able to enjoy the holiday. We're still able to be thankful for quite a lot. It's my favorite holiday of the year, and remains so even during these times. I'm thankful for the Winamp Forum community for sure, and I'm sure it has decades to go before it disappears completely.

Thanks Ted, good to hear you had a good Thanksgiving. Here in the Netherlands the holiday season hasn't started yet, the 5th of december we start off with Sinterklaas (the original Santa Claus: a bearded man with presents for the kids ). Numbers of contaminations are kinda stable but still too high, but since I pretty much work and live in isolation these days I feel it's safe to pay my parents a visit. We'll see how it goes with christmas...

Take care!

If you're bored go here or, if the boredom is more serious, here.

it's the same as with the flu vaccination , no garantee you won't get the virus

even people who got their flu shots ended up with having the flu.

With a virus it all depends which version you get.
With the flu , let say for argument sake, there are 20 variations.
If you get number 14 , everything below that type of virus won't harm you anymore but you still can catch everyting above that number 14 type .......

The students aren't allowed in the school buildings this week. We're teaching by Microsoft Teams video both live and recorded lessons and remote assignments. Staff were required to go to their buildings though, until tomorrow, when they're asked to work from home due to a big snowstorm that's coming in. This holiday season will be pretty socially isolated and I'm worried about people's mental health.

Having the roll-out of vaccine options is giving people hope though. In the USA, states are deciding who gets to be in line for vaccines first. In West Virginia, educators such as me are somewhat early in the list. The first phase of the rollout here will include people such as health care workers, first-responders, and educators.

Have any of you been able to get a vaccine for it yet?

We've been fully virtual since September. I know it's not easy on the families (and I miss seeing the students face-to-face), but at least they have the consistency.

I dunno where to even start with this...

How about the good side? I've gotten really good at Beat Saber.

However, I'm an essential worker (R&D Chemist for Johnson and Johnson) in a stupid state (Florida) where our brilliant governor (DeSantis, re: DeShitis) just deprioritized the vaccine in an effort to shove his head further up Trump's failed ass.

I can't wait to vote this fucking whore out of office.

No, I clearly don't have an opinion here. I used to love America. But anymore we are mainly a bunch of self righteous assholes that have forgotten how to follow the advice of experts even if it's for our own good ... because WE know better.

Good grief. What have "WE" become?

It's depressing. This week in my state, a (now former) employee at a hospital deliberately destroyed 500 doses of the vaccine.

My main concern is about how many people are so strongly polarised towards either just pretending nothing's wrong versus living in a fallout shelter wearing tinfoil hats.

Both sides without really knowing any facts at all of course.

Intentionally destroying doses ... that’s fairly criminal.

WOTL: that and the amount of disinformation that still exists. All three are fairly scary and alarming.

What’s somewhat worse, if you feed into the theories that Covid was intentional (even if it wasn’t) we’ve just shown folks how to take the world hostage...

My wife received the first shot in the two-shot series a couple days ago. I'm still on a waiting list. Her only complaint was that, like any other immunization shot, her arm was mildly sore for about a day. She'll get the second shot 21 days after the first. I'm hopping to receive my first this coming week. My daughter is still quite young and considered extremely low risk, so it'll be a while before she'll be offered the vaccination.

Anyone else here receive the vaccination?

Everybody has the right to do it or leave it.
I'm at the bottom of the list when it comes to getting a shot.
in the meantime i stick to the lockdown and only go out once a week to do my radioshow on the local station.
but how ever you look at it. it still is a personal choice if you wil or won't get the shot.

A reason as i don't know what they put in the shot is not valid , if you eat a hotdog you are taking something where you also don't know what they put in it.......
