I give up - default dir for playlist
I have searched the preferences, the inis, the registry and these forums and can't figure it out:
Whenever I click 'add dir' in the playlist, it always defaults to some directory deep inside a game demo. I deleted the game directory and now it defaults to a different game demo directory! Is there no place to set what your default mp3 dir is for the playlist? I am comfortable editing the registry and inside of non-hex files if need be. |

That doesn't work
I change it to: cwd=c:\MP3s but when I open WinAmp, it still defaults to the old dir and the ini is changed back to: cwd=c:\program files\the bitmap brothers\steel soldiers (demo)\sfx\generic\wav\eng\specific\medium\pyro How it ever got that one I don't know. It has only been installed for a week and it doesn't even contain mp3s (does have wavs though). It must be getting that dir from somewhere other than the ini file. |

The cwd= entry in winamp.ini is the only place this setting is referred to.
Make sure winamp.ini is not set to "read-only" Make sure the Winamp dir & no files within are set to "read only" Open Winamp Go to add dir as per usual Choose your dir & actually add it to the playlist. Now close Winamp wait a while & reboot. |
