When you first install Winamp, it gives you the option of making it
your default player by checking a box titled "associate Winamp with all streaming formats", or something close to this. Once Winamp is installed, I'm not sure if that option is still available or not but in your case, you'll either need to find it or re-install Winamp and this time make sure that box is checked! This will not prevent your Real player from "stealing" default status back from Winamp, but it will insure that Winamp will be your default player for MP3 streams from sources such as Shoutcast, et.al. Your Real player will still pop-up when accessing streams such as *.ram or *.ra, and Windows Media Player will pop-up when accessing streams such as *.wap; *.wa, etc., but Winamp will always pop-up when accessing streams *.pls or *.MP3 (if such exists). Hope you find this helpful. Good Luck |
