In response to the question "does Shoutcast dsp v1.8.2 have bugs? My
answer to that would be, HELL YES, it has a lot of bugs, too numerous
to go into detail here. I experienced so many different problems that
I had to re-install v1.8.0. Not to mention some of the features that
were removed from the new version that I had become accustomed to
(listener count at-a-glance, stereo capability below 40Kbps, etc.).
In regard to the specific situation of voice-overs, I do recall exper-
iencing the same thing described, but with v1.8.0.and since I don't
need that feature, I just shrugged it off. In my meager opinion, you
will have an outboard mixer for that function, whether you archive
your programming on hard-drive, cd's or tape for that matter. In order
to run what I consider a full-fledged webcasting radio station (as
opposed to playing d.j. on the internet) requires quite an investment
in studio source gear, audio-processing gear and all the other gear
you would expect to find in a fully-functioning radio station. It's
great that Nullsoft has made webcasting achievable to the average joe
but how you sound will depend on what you put into it.
Anyway, I've begun ranting, so I'd better stop before I start sounding
like a snob ;=)
