Win2K and WA 2.76, problems w/ bass
Hi, I run a P3 650MHz, 128MB RAM, integrated ESS Maestro2E sound, and I have Windows 2000 Professional w/ SP2. When I play MP3s on Winamp 2.76, the bass comes out in poor quality and sounds like static. The MP3's play fine on other computers and on WMA in my comp, so it can't be the MP3s, the sound card, or the drivers. I already tried uninstall/reinstall with a new download of WA 2.76. Can anyone think of a solution? If not, I think this maybe a bug.
Thanks. Ninja138 |

In addition to PP's suggestions/tips, have you tried switching to DirectSound Output instead of WaveOut? Also, have you checked Windows Volume Control to make sure the bass control is up high enough (Advanced settings). Also try disabling any other settings, such as reverb/chorus, and look at the 3D sound setting too (if it's enabled, disable it, and vice-versa) |

As a last resort, buy a soundcard. The quality even these days of on-board sound is terrible. Methinks it's meant for home-office setups where the broad range of sound wouldn't actually matter.
