Help Regarding Playlist Function

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me regarding my playlist function.

Here it is....

As of a few days ago, whenever I open up any of my saved playlists, Winamp starts playing from the 3rd or 4th song down...and not the very first one... Once it reaches the end...it stops playing and doesn't even get to the few it missed at the top!

I've tried searching the archives before coming here but had no luck..

While this may not be a very hot topic, it is somewhat of a pain in the as* for me...if you know what I'm saying...

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

PS: I've tried creating 'new' playlists...to NO AVAIL!..

Thanks,

Badboy

Sounds like dead links. Have you moved or renamed the first few songs in the playlist at all?? The reason this happens is that the path to the songs has changed and the playlist no longer knows where they are, and skips through until it finds a song that it can play. Go to the bottom of the playlist window, click on REM -> MISC -> "remove all dead files". If the songs in question are removed from the list, then I'm right.

To fix this, go to ADD -> ADD FILE and add the missing files back into the playlist.

Fixing issues w/Playlist

Ethan,

Thanks for the bit of info there....

Unfortunately this did not resolve the issue.
Might you have any other suggestions?

Thanks again for the input.

And this is for ALL playlists, or just the one?
Do the trax at the top play if you double click them (or rt click -> play)
What format are these trax? (mp3, wma, mid, wav, other)
And you're positive that they're not dead links?

Fixing issues w/Playlist

DJEgg,

In response to your questions;

1. Yes, the tracks at the top of all playlists do play if I 'double-click' them. (33 playlists in all)
2. Extensions of playlists are '.M3U'
3. No Dead links in any of the playlists

Of note:

I can delete a current playlist, open up Winamp, throw some songs in there, create a NEW list, close it...re-open it....and Winamp 'randomly' selects any song and starts to play it...it just never starts with song 1...like it used to do up till about a week ago.

If you need anything else or I forgot to mention a step, please let me know.

Thanks,

Bad Boy

Open up WinAMP. Hit the S key. Now WinAMP is in continuous mode rather than shuffle mode.

Dar!

Why didn't you say you were in shuffle mode?
You originally said the playlist always started at track 3 or 4 and then continued in order to the end. However, in shuffle mode, the trax are selected at random, so no trax should play in order at all. Doh!

Fixing Playlist Selections

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who offered support in this seemless issue of mine.

While I have no idea 'how' my winamp got into 'shuffle' mode, (I know I would NEVER do that), this was the issue.

Thanks again to all of you!

I'll have to watch what i do in the future and make sure I don't 'fat-finger' anything!
