Can't play music
Currently, i'm having difficulties playing music from my winamp. Whenever i clicked onto a song, i can't play that song or any other songs cos the highlighted bar just keep on moving from one song title to the next. In desperation, i even downloaded winamp again but to no avail.
What should i do? Pls help. Thks.

If you use a playlist, make sure that the entries to the paths (where the mp3 is located) are right. Also if you play from any removable media, make sure that the media is inserted.

sounds like a case of dead links - where the path to the files or the files themselves have been renamed or moved. To check for this, go to the bottom of the playlist window, click on REM -> REM MICS -> "remove all dead files". If the playlist is cleared (or partially cleared) then this is the problem.
Clear the playlist completely, go to the bottom of the playlist window, click on ADD -> ADD DIR and select the directory that contains your mp3s. your playlist will be loaded and should play fine. Like my photography? Buy some here.... |

Cor blimey guv, we've got a right mish-mash of topics here.
St2me The files should still play if they are read-only, you just won't be able to edit the id3 tags. However, they shouldn't be read-only, it's highly likely that you got these files off a CD-ROM maybe? All files on CD-ROM are read-only. Anyway, to remove the read-only attribute, goto the containing dir, ctrl+a to select all files -> file menu -> properties -> uncheck "read-only" -> check "archive" instead -> okay As for files & cd's not playing, we need more info than that! Full sys specs (CPU, Soundcard, Videocard, Windows OS, etc, etc) What formats won't play? Define "won't play". Any error messages? Is it a saved playlist, and if so have you checked for dead links? (as above) For Audio CD's, have you tried replacing the default cd input plugin with the CDReader plugin? |
