AVS overlay doesn't work

I just installed 2.77 and now the avs overlay doesn't work. It worked perfectly in 2.76. I got 2.77 cuz it said there was full screen overlay which I've been waiting for, however I was disappointed to find out that it and the regular desktop overlay don't work.
I have a T-bird 800mhz, Asus A7V mobo, ATI all-in-wonder 128, 1 gig ram

, Sound Blaster Live Value (have already checked for gen_nomad.dll), DirectX 8, Windows XP

Try switching the overlay color. "Settings" -> "Display" and choose an other (overlay) color. Try the color of you backgroud, worked for me. (I've got a black background.) I think that the "Set to desktop color" option is sort of broken. If I enable it, overlay doesn't work anymore. Can somebody confirm/reproduce this?

I got it to work!!

I uninstalled and reinstalled winamp. So if anyone else is having this same problem give that a try.
