Creative Audigy & Winamp 2.77...

This is just "early testing", but... SB Audigy & Winamp 2.77 seem to have some compatibility problems under Win 2000 at least.

When using "waveOut" output, the sound stutters, and once the whole Winamp just "died" in the middle of a song and refused to produce any sound until system reset. Interestingly, both Windows Media Player and Creative's own player played the same MP3s without any trouble, even after this crash.

I next tried "DirectSound" plugin, and the results were already better, although not perfect. Gone was the stuttering, but sometimes Winamp skipped parts of the MP3 (of VBR-type) it played. After increasing the buffers, the sound is finally clean and so far, after a couple of test songs, the problems seem to be gone.

(funny, btw how Winamp's audio quality sounds better than Windows Media Player's - is this my imagination or have you others noticed the same?

The system:
ABIT KG-7, AMD Tbird 1575, 512M RAM, ATI Radeon 64 DDR, SB Audigy Platinum, Windows 2000 SP2, DX8a.

T.

The Audigy drivers currently shipping with it are extremely poor quality according to people that are testing it. Another thing, delete gen_nomad.dll from your Winamp plugin folder.
