i want to get rid of this plugin...
a long time ago i installed a plugin for winamp called "Nullsoft Experimental Crossfading Output". when playing many songs on a playlist, inbetween the songs it will mix the last 8 seconds of the first song with the first three seconds of the second song (you know what i mean, it makes a smooth transformation from song to song, instead of one ending then another beginning). well, when playing only one song, the song ends 8 seconds before the end, leaving off a part of the song i might want to hear. now i want to get rid of this plugin. how do you uninstall plugins on winamp? i have winamp version 2.64 if it makes a difference. any help at all would be appreciated.

Winamp Prefs -> Plugins -> Output
Select one of "Nullsoft WaveOut" (default) -or- "Nullsoft DirectSound" Close Prefs, Close Winamp In Explorer, goto the winamp\plugins dir & delete out_xf.dll |

i attempted that
i already tried (to an extent) to just delete it. i moved it out of the directory and winamp wouldn't play my mp3s. when i put it back, it could play them again. is there a cleaner way of getting rid of the plugin, rather than just deleting a dll?

did you get rid of the right dll? Other than that I don't think there is any other way to do it. Of course, I'm no master at winamp

In Winamp, just hold Ctrl and press P and go to the Output plugins section. Switch to WaveOut or DirectSound instead of "Experimental Crossfading". The plugin is now disabled and you can delete it without impairing Winamp's function.

neo = dj egg translator
usless omit info: i use direct: alot of the rest of the stuff on your computer uses wav and sometimes using direct you can listen to winamp and other stuff as well. (i think...) on my computer sometimes when i would turn it on none of the sounds would work (error in wav... thing?) and i got tired of reseting to listen to winamp so i put winamp on direct and didnt have to reset any more. and just uninstalling 2.76 and downloading 2.77 (or even 3) would have been out of the question? probably, well, what they said then

bloody heck
![]() I supplied the exact same method and didn't even get a thankyou. ![]() Maybe I should reply in baby language in future? ![]() At least Omit noticed anyway ![]() I suppose that's what ya get for posting in Gen_Dis instead of Tech_n00bies, hehe. DirectSound Output uses Microsoft DirectX (software) drivers to send the audio output to your speakers. WaveOut converts the audio input to Wave Output by using your soundcard hardware drivers in real-time. ![]() Please don't ask me to explain that as well ?!?! LOL, Maybe Neo will oblige

DirectSound uses more RAM than WaveOut, but you can play your audio mixed with sound effects etc. in games.
