Blurp when changing Resolution

Ever since I installed DirectX 8, I've had a problem with the audio output while changing video resolution (1024x768 to 800x600 for example). Noticed this as some games change resolutions pretty frequently. The problem still occurs while just changing resolution on the desktop manually. While my screen is adjusting to the new resolution my winamp emites a static-like blurping sound.

This was never an issue prior to DX8, though on occasion it would pause/skip for a second while changing resolutions, but never the distorted sound.

This happens for both Winamp 2.77 and 3.0.

I tried an MP3 through MPLAYER2 just to see if it would skip or make a blurp while changing resolution and it played clearly.

I also re-installed the SB Live drivers twice to see if it would help.

Incase it makes a difference I will post my computer specs:
MSI KT7 Turbo
Athlon 1.33Ghz (266Mhz)
256 MB PC133 SDRAM
SB Live 5.1
ABit Siluro MX 400 (64 MB Geforce2 MX)

Please let me know if there is a solution or fix for it.

Thank you.
