Win2k spontaneous crash
I have traced this to winamp:
winamp playing a CD can cause my computer to spontaneously restart itself. It is less likely when just playing, gets very likely when selecting files. If i select (say, 6-10) files in quick succession from the playlist, the computer will reboot, every single time. This only happens under winamp. I have used other programs, (such as, say, real jukebox), as well as data files in windows explorer, and hit them much harder, but this does not cause any problems. My configuration is as follows: win2k sp2 duron 900Mhz, 256MB sdr ram, directx 8.0 Samsung CD-ROM SC-152C VIA AC'97 Audio controller is the repoerted sound card (integrated into VIA motherboard), all with latest drivers I could find. Rather frustrating, it makes winamp unusable on my system. Cheers, Kelsey |

Thanks for that,
That would appear to have fixed it. I wont claim victory just yet, but I can do things now in winamp that used to restart the computer with monotonous regularity. Cheers, Kelsey |
