Problems with buffering

Hello, have problems with the free radio. Radio starts, buffers and after about 10 seconds stops and buffers again, all the time.It is the same on two computers. Both Pentium, 600 and 1 ghz and win 98 and winamp 2.77. Where is the problem? Thanks, Mathias

what radio? shoutcast?
what bitrate is the stream?
what internet connection do you have?
what stream exactly - or does it happen with all streams?
do you have a firewall?
do you use a proxy server?
do you use any third party plugin that affects streaming (mp3pro, mad, etc.)?

uhhm, i need more information

Hey, are you psychic or something Lion King?
That's exactly the same reply I would've given.
Nice one. I'm impressed!

Hello Lion King and DJEgg, seeems difficult.
I installed it new and want only to hear the radio, Wolffm from free free internet radio. But with the other stations it is the same.
It seems, that it is working with 24K Mono and not with 56K MP3 or 128 MP3stereo. With Windows Media player i have also no problems in stereo.
For internetconnection i can use DSL or ISDN and it is the same problem. I have only a little bit of firewall for DSL in my router (i hope), but with ISDN i have no firewall and the same problem.
I use no proxy server.
I think i use no third party plugin ( mp3pro etc), i am not sure, but i think, i have nothing installed.
Thanks a lot for your help.

Mathias

<- DJEgg 2.666 codename LionKing

hmm, you are only able to listen to the 56kb stream with isdn if you have a fast connection and you don't downoad anything else (means surfing)
connection speeds depends on your provider, if too many people are surfing at the same time it's getting slow
so nothing to worry about here

but with dsl you shoud be able to listen to the 128kb stream even if you are surfing
do you share the dsl connection over a network by chance?

does the 128kb mp3 stream work with m$ mediaplayer or only the asx stream?

Hello Lion King,
sorry that i am answering very late.
The winndows media player connection was with 20k, i didn't find it, where to change.
I tried many things.
Since yesterday Winamp is working nearly fine, i have disconnects only 1 time every half hour, also with 128 k.
I think it is a problem with the internet, but the same with DSL or ISDN.
I traced before the route to shoutcast and noticed the connection was normal, about 150 to 210 ms from germany, but i had some lost packages, about 10%. So on sunday it was buffering about 6 seconds, then playing music 4-5 seconds, broke, buffered again 6 seconds, played again 4-5 seconds. I saw in the options/preference/nullsoft waveoutput statistic that it buffered with 128k mp3 up to 344/344kB and then run out to 0/344Kb then bufferd again.
But i tried to encrease also the buffer input in options/preferences/input/nullsouft mpeg/streaming up to 4000 kB and set both prebuffer to the highest level and nothing changed. Now i have here only 64 kb and the default prebuffer and it is working without any problems.
Are there any changes to set some buffer to help over this problem ore any other solution?
I tried on sunday also the new winamp beta version, but the problems were the same.
Thanks again to look for this, i spent very much time for this,
Mathias
