Winamp 2.7x queing files
Find files -> *.mp3
Select all and right click, go to Enqueue In Winamp Depending on how many files you have, this will either work properly -or- start loading a different Winamp client per file. To explain, I try to do this with around 900 files. My computer starts to lag as 40 or so Winamp windows pop up and start playing Mp3s. With small numbers of files, it's not a problem. 900mhz tbird / 512mb I can recreate this every time. Hope this hasn't been posted before or isn't just me... |

Thanks Peter,
I've already got it installed (as part of the 4P set). I just tried setting the delay even higher (to about 1200ms) and it works now Dare I ask, but what sort of strange behavior does it introduce? Chris. |

bad things happen only with too short enqueue delay as far as i know (but you might need even longer delay if you run a lot of programs in background while adding files). there were some weird explorer crashes under winme a long time ago, but i'm not sure if they still happen with current version.

The problem mainly occured when I was reading large amounts of files across my network, or as you said when there were large amounts of programs running.
Thanks

depends on CPU usage - if your CPU is busy, delays between files grow. there's really no good way to know is particular file is supposed to be played or enqueued.
this multiinstance bug is starting to really piss me off - it's mentioned in the buglist (including workaround), it was reported directly to Justin several times (on irc) and it's still not fixed in v2.77. doh. |

Still, perhaps it will be fixed one day. Just as an aside, does the same problem exist in Winamp3? I haven't installed it on my early pentium, and the problem doesn't really occur on my new 1,1ghz PC. |
