New PC Plays MP3s Fast

Does anyone know why my new PC(Pentium III, I GIG MHZ) plays MP3s fast. Even if I download one it plays it fast.

Bad Windows 2000 soundcard drivers. Install the latest proper ones (when you let windows installation choose for you it usually chooses the wrong one, apparently).
