MP3s only playing accross 2 channels....

Hey guys....
Winamp is my default music player right. So when I stick in a cd, it plays through winamp, on four channels too so 4 speaker are pumping. When I play MP3s off the computer however, only 2 channels are going with 2 speakers pumping. Help guys! How can I fix this problem?!

Thanks in advance,

Windows OS?
Soundcard details?
DirectX version? (start -> run -> dxdiag)
Do all 4 speakers work when playing MP3's in other players?

Try switching the Output device to your soundcard
DirectSound Output -> Config
Change from Primary Sound Driver (default) to soundcard driver.

Still no joy? Update Soundcard drivers & DirectX.

btw, have you installed any 3rd party winamp plugins?
eg. any replacement mp3 input plugins, any dsp/fx, any GeneralPurpose?
If so, disable them (for troubleshooting purposes) and just use the default setup.
